This treatment is a holistic jaw release experience designed to gently unwind the layers of holding in your face, neck and nervous system. But we don’t stop at the jaw. We explore how your body responds to stress - how you breathe, how you brace, how you carry yourself when life gets heavy.

What is Jaw Release by Face Up ™
Jaw Release by Face Up™ is a hands-on therapeutic treatment that addresses jaw and facial tension by first working through the fascia system of the body. Rather than treating the jaw in isolation, this approach acknowledges that chronic stress, shallow breathing and postural strain create tension patterns throughout the chest, neck and shoulders that directly impact jaw tension.
Why we begin with the body: We start by releasing fascia restrictions in the thoracic, diaphragm and neck to restore mobility, improve breath mechanics, and down regulate the nervous system. This prepares the body for more effective and lasting release of jaw and cranial structures.
This treatment includes:
Fascia and somatic release
Intraoral and external techniques targeting the TMJ, Masseter and cranial base
Benefits may include:
Reduced jaw clenching & TMJ discomfort
Relief from ear congestion or pressure linked to jaw and cranial tension
Decreased frequency and intensity of tension headaches
Increased Range of motion in the neck & jaw
Reduction in puffiness or fluid retention via enhanced lymphatic drainage
Greater awareness of unconscious clenching or bracing patterns
Improved posture, breath capacity and vagal tone
A more defined jaw line through reduced muscular tension
Increased circulation and glow due to improved tissue oxygenation and flow
What Clients Are Saying
“I worked with Jana for 8 weeks doing Jaw Release and the results honestly surprised me. I saw noticeable difference in my jaw and face, and the inflammation disappeared. I feel the treatment released a lot of stored tension in my jaw and I liked how we worked in other areas in the body as well, for example the diaphragm and learning how to breathe. It was hard unlearning these bad habits I had formed but the daily check ins + filling out the google forms - were what produced these results as it was forcing me to be consistent and do the work everyday. In fact just writing this now makes me want to do the course again so I can bring those habits back into my life. These sessions were so relaxing and you felt your hard work was well and truly rewarded when Jana made you feel comfortable enough to fall asleep. If you have struggled with tension in your jaw then you have to try this, it has seriously eased mine. ”

“Jana is firstly such a warm and open person that I felt comfortable immediately working with her. The whole experience has felt relaxed and easy. I have been surprised by the impact of the jaw release work she has been doing with me. I really didn't think I had any real tension however, soon realized that one side of my face was very tight and honestly, the release feels amazing. I’ve realized that holding my jaw was impacting other parts of my body that I wasn't aware of so not only did I feel improvement in my face and the space inside my mouth, but also in my shoulder.
I recommend exploring this work for yourself and wholeheartedly recommend Jana.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Face up™ is a fascia informed, nervous system-aware treatment that addresses jaw and facial tension . Unlike traditional massages or cosmetic facials, this approach targets the root causes of jaw dysfunction - such as postural strain, shallow breathing, and stress-related holding patterns - before applying precise intraoral and cranial techniques.
This isn’t a Facial - it is something deeper. Face Up ™ works with your body’s structure and nervous system to release long-held tension, not just soothe the surface.
-
Yes- when appropriate and always with your informed consent. Intraoral techniques involve gloved, gentle access to the inner jaw muscles, including the pytergoids and inner masseter. These areas are often overlooked in clenching, grinding, TMJ dysfunction, and facial asymmetry. The work is slow, respectful, and guided entirely by your comfort.
Many clients, are very relaxed and even fall asleep during treatment.
-
Because the jaw rarely acts alone. Tension in the chest, diaphragm, neck and shoulders - often shaped by stress, posture, or breathing patterns - creates strain that pulls on the jaw and cranial structures. By releasing these upstream areas first, we restore space, improve breath flow, and allow the jaw to soften more naturally.
It’s a whole-body invitation to unwind, not just a local fix.
-
Absolutely, I’ll always check in with you and am mindful of any sensitive areas in or around your mouth - modifying or omitting intraoral work as needed to ensure your comfort. Even with these adjustments, the treatment can be highly beneficia. By working with the surrounding structures - like the neck, shoulders, and cranial system - we can support your body in adapting to changes, reduce tension, and improve overall alignment.
Many clients find this work especially helpful during orthodontic treatment or post-dental procedures, as it eases train and supports integration.
-
This treatment is designed to support a wide range of concerns, including TMJ dysfunction, clenching, grinding, headaches, neck pain, and stress-related tension. It is also deeply calming for the nervous system, making it a supportive option for those navigating anxiety or burn out.
If you are unsure, I am happy to chat and see if it is a good fit for your needs.

Each session begins with a brief check-in to understand how your body and jaw are feeling today. We start working through your the upper body, chest, shoulders, neck, an diaphragm - to release tension patterns that often contribute to jaw strain. From there, we move into cranial and to the face, if appropriate, intraoral techniques to access deeper jaw muscles. Please note, that we wont be doing intraoral work in your first session.
The pace is slow, intentional, and always guided by your comfort. You’re welcome to rest quietly or share what you/re noticing - this is your space to unwind.
-
Most clients are feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded- but every body integrates differently.
You might notice shifts in your posture, breath, or how your jaw moves. Some areas we’ve worked with may feel tender for a couple of days, especially if they’ve been holding tension for a long time. Because fascia connects the entire body, it is also possible to feel sensations or mild ache in areas we didn’t directly touch - this is your system adjusting to new space and alignment. You might even hear some clicking in the jaw as range and mobility return. Gentle movement, hydration, and rest can support your integration. Emotional or energetic shifts are also common as your body lets go of holding old patterns.
-
This is completley normal. The jaw and diaphragm are often places where we store unspoken stress, tension and emotions. As these areas release, it’s not uncommon to feel wavees of emotions - anything from relief to vunlerability to unexpected tears. All of you is welcome here. This work honors the body’s wisdom, and we’ll always move at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
